Assisted Living Options in Dallas Fort Worth

"How can this service be free?"

We receive a referral fee from the senior living facility you select, but our role is to always represent you and your family's needs, not the facility or care provider. Senior Living Advisors does not have ownership and not affiliated with any facility or senior care business.

"What is included in the monthly rent?

Available services will vary property to property. Some services come with the basic monthly charge; other services are provided at extra cost. You should expect the following basic services to be available:

Three meals per day served in a common dining room

A measured amount of time allotted for assistance with personal care.
PEACE OF MIND!

"What type of facility do we need?"

Independent Living Facilities (or Retirement Facilities) are for seniors (usually over age 55). Independent Living is for seniors that are able to take care of themselves, are relatively healthy, and can communicate with caregivers, doctors, nurses by themselves, desire the security that a seniors-only environment provides. No custodial or medical care is available. Meals and planned activities are available.

Assisted Living Provides a special combination of help with non-medical activities of daily living including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transfers to medical appointments along with some of the same supportive services as independent retirement facilities.
Nursing Homes or Skilled Nursing Facilities provide 24 hour a day licensed care for seniors who are in need of more care than an assisted living home. They provide the senior who needs help with physical, mental or emotional conditions along with custodial care.

Memory Care Many facilities offer separate, secure buildings for people with Alzheimer's disease or other memory impairments. They provide 24-hour care in a specialized environment, while maintaining the comforts of home

"What are the upfront and monthly costs?" Most facilities do not require a deposit. The only up-front fee required by most facilities is a new resident services fee. This fee can vary with each property.

"Any Locations close by?"

Depending on the area, there might be a location close to you. If not, you might consider one close to your work location. This question also depends on availability and level of care.

"How are the care levels priced?"

Each level requires different types of care. The care is based on each individual’s needs. Levels of care help facilities to simplify their pricing structures; once a resident requires a certain amount or kind of care, then the costs rise. Levels of care are also convenient for the consumer: you know the pricing up front, and can avoid feeling "nickeled-and-dimed" every time a change occurs in care needs.

"Are pets welcome?" Yes, some properties at independent and assisted living are pet friendly.

"How Does an Assisted Living Facility Differ from a Nursing Home?

"
Nursing homes are designed to care for very frail people that are not able to care for themselves and have numerous health care requirements. Assisted living facilities are designed to assist elderly persons who are able to care for themselves except for a few activities. Assisted living facilities are often deemed necessary when the person in question needs help preparing meals, bathing, dressing, performing household chores, is sometimes confused, or is experiencing memory problems.

"Do Assisted Living Facilities have to be licensed?"

Regulations and licensure requirements vary. It is important to do your research to see if residences required to be licensed. If so, whether your facilities of interest are properly licensed. Some facility administrators themselves are licensed or certified.

"Can I bring my own furnishings to my Independent or Assisted Living apartment?"

Absolutely! Residents are encouraged to furnish and decorate their apartments with all the personal touches that make it a home.

"What is most important when choosing a facility?"

Making the right choice involves focusing on three issues: quality of life, standards of care, costs and value.

"Will the lease agreement be monthly or yearly?"

Typically, it is on a month to month basis.

"Will there be cost increases?"

The plan of care may be changed, modified or adapted. Whenever there is a change of condition (health or mental status or an occurrence which alters the needs of an individual), a re-assessment is likely to occur and amendments to the care plan are made. Sometimes, a completely new care plan must be written. If the level of care exceeds their present level, there may also be a rent increase. FAQ's for Senior Living Options Dallas Fort Worth
